Can you tell me about yourself?
I was born in Paris but grew up by the sea on the west coast near Nantes. That explains the Breton top. But my heart really is in London now where I have been living for the past 5 years.
What is your occupation?
I'm a planner in advertising.
What drew you to move to the Barbican?
I only discovered the Barbican when I moved to London. And fell in love with it immediately. I remember being by the fountain near the canteen and looking at those gorgeous balconies. I never thought I'd be able to move in to one of those and have my very own balcony, my very own geraniums. It's the most incredible piece of architecture. I love the weird mix of energy coming from the Art Center and tranquility, almost emptiness, coming from the residential bit. The silence when walking around it is striking. The Barbican is full of contradictions. As an example, I barely see my neighbors yet feel part of a community. I can feel all the people around me. It's extremely comforting.
How long have you lived on the estate?
I've lived in the estate for nearly 1.5 year now. It's hard to imagine living anywhere else
What is your favourite feature of the barbican flats?
The kitchen unit. And it says a lot about the design cause I barely ever cook.
How have you found it living here?
The most amazing year of my life so far. Every morning when I wake up and see the light coming through my windows, I feel so privilege to be a part of it.
Every evening when I come home, I feel extremely proud to be a resident. I know I am lucky to be experiencing this.
